Riding without a proper commercial license is illegal and may result in being barred from operating, and legal action by traffic authorities.
Motorcycle registration is required
Unregistered motorcycles are not allowed on roads. If found, the vehicle can be seized or denied entry at checkpoints.
Third-party insurance is mandatory
Operating a motorcycle without valid insurance is a violation. In case of an accident, you are fully liable for all damage and may face restrictions.
Helmet use is compulsory
Not wearing a helmet violates Kuwait’s safety laws. In an accident, you may lose legal protection and face additional traffic charges.
Suspended licenses cannot be used
Riding during a license suspension leads to extended suspension, possible arrest, and denial of future license privileges.
Vehicle modifications must be approved
Unauthorized mods (exhausts, lights, etc.) are illegal. If caught, inspection failure and forced removal of modifications may occur.
Technical inspection is mandatory
Skipping the roadworthiness check may result in the bike being flagged and denied use on highways or city roads.
Legal age is required for licensing
If a minor is caught riding, the vehicle can be seized and the guardian held responsible under juvenile protection laws.
Obeying traffic lights is the law
Disregarding red or green lights is against the law and may result in camera-tracked violations or immediate traffic stops.
Stay in proper lane while riding
Zig-zagging or riding outside designated lanes can endanger others and cause accidents; enforcement officers may pull you over.
Headlight must be on while riding
Riders must have working headlights, especially at night or in low visibility. Riding without one may result in warnings or inspection orders.
License plates must be untampered and visible
Illegible, missing, or altered plates violate vehicle identity laws. Officers may impound the motorcycle until resolved.
Unapproved passenger transport is restricted
Carrying more than one person or minors without gear can violate transport laws and trigger child safety investigations.
Do not ride in pedestrian zones
Motorcycles in sidewalks, parks, or footpaths are in violation. They may be removed and the rider legally warned or fined.
Riders must stop at checkpoints
Ignoring police instructions at checkpoints is illegal and can lead to pursuit or legal escalation.
Using handheld phones is illegal while riding
Phones must be used through Bluetooth or mounted systems. Using hands directly while riding violates distracted driving laws.
Wrong-way riding is not allowed
Riding against traffic direction is extremely unsafe and may result in confiscation or immediate legal action.
Commercial motorcycles need extra permits
Delivery or commercial riders must follow permit rules, including markings and uniform standards for safety and tracking.
Riders must follow safe distance rules
Tailgating is illegal. It leads to accidents and violations under Kuwait’s traffic spacing laws.
Horns and lighting must meet legal standards
Excessively loud horns or unauthorized lighting (e.g., flashing blue LEDs) are against traffic regulations and may cause failure during inspection.
